Currently there is a red warning on certain coastal provinces (for more information you can visit the official Embassy web site). In general Ecuador is quite safe to travel especially is you have hired reputable companies and have accurate information on travel friendly location.

As of January 2022 all restrictionshave currently lifted in Ecuador.
Proof of vaccination or covid test are NO longer neccesary to enter the country.

Most travel agencies and your doctor will advise taking antimalaria medication.There are very few zones in Ecuador that have malaria cases.It is worth checking to see if you will be visiting these areas before taking them as they can also have side effects that can affect you while on holiday.Seek advise before booking.

Ecuador has many climate zones, so it is wise to be prepared for all climatic conditions.Ecuador has primarily 4 climate zones each with a winter and a summer:

The coast which can be hot and dry and certain times of the year and through there winter:lots of rain and humid enviorment.

The highlands are generally held to be warm through the day and quite cold at night.At higher altitude colder winds and very cold nights can be expected,the sun is still very strong in the day and sun protection is needed.

The Jungle is very humid and hot.The famous jungle storms bring much needed coolness to the evenings.

The cloud forest located between the jungle and highlands can vary from warm and humid to cold very quickly..constant rain and wet enviorments are  found in this zone.

Depending on the trip you choose and plan to do a list will be sent of all the necessary items for each package trip.

As your tour organizer i try to ensure your saftey and belongings at all times but there will be ocasions you will be around town possibly alone and having large quantities of money on ones person is not advisable, but can be stored in strong boxes at the diffrent locations you visit.

In Ecuador there are public and private hospitals.Depending on where you are in the country most public hospitals are very good, clean and free.For more serious accidents or medical needs there is a list of very good private hospitals which can be quite pricey .( Medical coverage is advised before traveling).

Ecuador has a very good transportation system, public buses are very frequent and cover most of the country.There are companies more recomended thaN others and definetly worth searching for.Taxis and private drivers are very popular and safe to use depending on which area of the country you are in.Cities can be busier and not as safe, registered taxis or booking through your hotel is the most advisable.When booking a tour through Abbys Ecuador Tours a private driver, translater and vehicle will be with you at all times needed.

Due to Ecuadors diversity in culture and climates zones meal options are varied and can be very diffrent to what you are used to.Allergies and food restictions are not so common so if you do have a dietary restriction or allergie it is very important it is stressed in the restraunts you visit.As part of our tour packages we will include these questions in your booking form and options as alternatives if something is not agreeable.

The Tour packages include all food, snacks and activities as will be listed in your form.We will also add an additional what to expect pricing on extra activities, souvenirs,beverages and general costs of other items you may wish to purchase while traveling.

We do not advise drinking tap water as it may not be pure or may contain minerals that can affect your stomach.Recyclable bottled water can be purchased . Water in hotels will always be bottled and potable or will be in large containers to fill your own.

Tips are aprreciated but not a must do.Years ago it was not acceptable but as the country has opened up more as a country in development and provides new services we recomend setting aside some tips for the activities and tours your have enjoyed.

A yellow fever injection is not needed to enter Ecuador.

Ecuador is family friendly and is safe to travel with small children,There may be some extra meassures you may want to take in account before coming and we are happy to give any advise on what can be neccesary or usefull to ensure a fun family holiday

Credit and debit cards are not commonly used in Ecuador.In the cities restraunts and malls accept credit and debit cards but usually at high additional intrest rates.Cash is defintely still the way to go, and you can take out up to usually 300 dollars a day from cash machines with an international fee.Small change is hard to come by so bring smaller bills if possible.

It is not neccesary as in most areas people speak some english and are happy to help.When booking a tour translaters will be with you as needed.Learning greetings and small common phrases will make people open up more and make your experience more agreeable.

Quito airport which is where most people fly in to is at 2,850meters above sea level.On arrival most people will get some form of altitude sickness , it is up to each person to decide if they would like to brig altitude sickness medication.Everyone reacts diffrently and as it is at the start of your trip it is generally recomended to take something to ease the discomfort.
